Humbled by Voters (Letter to the Editor - Bellevue Leader)
By Rita Sanders
To the voters of Bellevue, I say thank you for everyone that voted – whether by absentee ballot or in your precinct! You have spoken and I am honored and humbled by your action and strongly recommend that everyone exercise your right to vote in the Nov. 2 General Election.
I wish to pass along my best wishes to my fellow candidates as we continue to work together for the betterment and future of Bellevue. Thank you to all of my family and friends, our citizens, supporters, contributors, volunteers, and my campaign team! Our vision and mission continues!
I will continue to actively speak and positively share my campaign platform of transparency and accountability in government.
I am committed to our city, Nebraska’s First City, and as a longtime resident and valued business owner I am striving to address issues of major importance to growth, partnerships in business, education, jobs and quality of life. Rick and I will continue to fulfill our obligations to our responsibilities in business and to our community.
You are our future. I am the new face in Bellevue politics but an experienced face in all aspects of supporting, guiding and integrating trusted values – I am doing what I promised – Run, Lead, and Serve!

Rita Sanders is participating in National Security Forum

Rita Sanders, Co-owner and Director, Richmont Village Senior Living LLC accepted an invitation by the Secretary of the Air Force to participate in the 57th Annual National Security Forum (NSF) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama being held May 17-21, 2010.
Ms. Sanders, nominated by Offutt Air Force Base 55th Wing Commander, Brigadier General John Shanahan, USAF, is to attend this year’s NSF as a participant in exploring current and future national security issues facing our nation that could also directly affect programs at Offutt AFB. The NSF is a great opportunity for an open and candid exchange of ideas among other civilian leaders, senior military and the students from all branches of the military attending the U.S. Air Force Air War College.
The purpose of NSF is for the Air War College to provide a discussion oriented platform by which to obtain the diverse perspective of civilian leaders from across the U.S. while discussing various current and future national security issues. Lectures and seminar discussions may include differing points of view on current national defense issues, national military strategy, and the role of air, space and cyberspace power.
In addition to the opportunity to gain input from these civilian leaders, NSF will provide a unique forum in which experts on various aspects of national and international security may discuss their views with students, faculty and civilian guests. This program will broaden the perspectives and garner a mutual understanding of U.S. Air Force, national and international security issues between our guests and senior U.S. joint service and international officers and civilian equivalents.
Ms Sanders is very excited to be able to actively participate in this unique and dynamic forum that will provide her with greater level of awareness and a deeper understanding on a local, national and international scale in the importance of Offutt AFB to the U.S. Air Force and our national defense. She looks forward to sharing the perspectives she gains from this program with the Bellevue business community and its citizen’s following her return.
